Canadian at our Core: Bruce Power contributing more than $13 billion to Canada's economy over the next 18 months, supporting jobs and business here at home when it matters most

Kincardine, Ontario, Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bruce Power’s Canadian at our Core commitment is delivering real results when they matter most, creating an economic impact of more than $13.3 billion in the next 18 months, supporting good jobs in Ontario and across the country.

Bruce Power’s Canadian at our Core campaign was launched in 2025 and since then, the company has spent more than $6.6 billion in Canada from January 2025 to June 2026, and will spend an additional $7.7 billion through the end of 2027, supporting Canadian businesses and workers through its operations and Life-Extension Program. This represents over 95 per cent of the company's total spend staying in Canada.

A strong, united Canada benefits everyone, and Bruce Power has doubled down on its Canadian commitment through five key pillars that are focused on supporting people, businesses, skilled trades, innovation, the economy and health care:

95% Target

• More than 95 per cent of Bruce Power spending is in Canada.
• Economic analysis completed for Bruce Power shows that one dollar invested by Bruce Power generates over $1.70 in economic impact to Canada with most of that occurring within Ontario. Based on that, Bruce Power expects to generate $13.3 billion in economic activity in Canada over the next 18 months, supporting Canadian businesses and workers during this period of economic uncertainty.

Supply Chain partnerships

• Over the past 18 months, Bruce Power has signed agreements worth more than $2.7 billion with Canadian suppliers, including Canada Steel, Ideal Supply, Weston Valve Fitting (Swagelok); Tundra, Contro Valve, Levitt, Crossroads, Compugen, Shawflex, AtkinsRealis, UCC, McDougall Energy, ASI, NPX and CCS.
• Key Examples include: A 12-year master supply agreement with Shawflex for high-quality engineered cable which will be produced at their facility in Vaughn; A 10-year agreement with Canada Steel for steel and aluminum products such as sheet, pipe, plate and rebar. The company has locations in Goderich, London, Cambridge and Sarnia; A 10-year strategic alliance with Contro Valve for critical valves, instrumentation and local support. Contro Valve has facilities in Burlington, Sarnia and Thunder Bay and Quebec and Manitoba.

Buy local in the Clean Energy Frontier region

• Bruce Power spent more than $3.8 billion in the Clean Energy Frontier region of Bruce, Grey and Huron Counties over the past 18 months, representing more than 50 per cent of total spending as a company.
• Over the next 18 months, Bruce Power expects to spend more than $4 billion in the tri-county area.

Reconciliation through action

• In early 2026, Bruce Power and the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) unveiled an historic $250-million expansion of their partnership to deliver cancer-fighting medical isotopes and create lasting economic benefits for the Chippewas of Saugeen and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nations.
• SON and Bruce Power entered into a separate revenue-sharing agreement, which provides $10 million annually in direct community payments, shared equally between Saugeen First Nation and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
• Bruce Power is helping to make the dream of home ownership come true with its investment of $1 million to Saugeen First Nation housing over a four-year span.
• A donation of $393,750 from the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) Community Development Fund in 2026 will help SON with Phase 2 of its Amphitheatre project following a $500,000 donation in 2025 from Kinectrics through the Fund, which supported the continued restoration of one of the largest dry-stone projects in North America.
• Bruce Power provided more than $1 million in direct financial contributions, as well as in-kind services and technical expertise, for the construction of the Nawash Arena.
• Bruce Power and its supplier partners pledged more than $1 million to fund the Noongwa Wellness project, an initiative focused on transforming community healthcare delivery in Neyaashiinigmiing by expanding access to in-community, in-home, and culturally relevant care through the construction of a new innovative family medicine and wellness facility.

Isotopes for Hope
The Bruce Power site has been producing sterilization grade cobalt-60 (Co-60) since 1986, medical grade Co-60 since 2019 and lutetium-177 (Lu-177) since 2022 and will continue to support the fight against cancer in Canada and around the world as it works to meet the goal of doubling Canadian isotope production by 2030.

Cobalt-60:

• Since 2025, Bruce Power has successfully harvested Co-60 from two reactor units, including the largest on record from Unit 5 in 2025 (largest harvest on record). These two significant harvests will be utilized by Nordion to support sterilization of critical health-care products, including heart valves, vascular stents, artificial joints, tissue-based medical products and other implantable devices, while also supporting the global supply of sterilized medical products relied upon every day in hospitals and clinics around the world.
• From now until end of 2027, there are three more harvest and shipping campaigns planned at Bruce Power.

Lutetium-177

• In October 2025, Bruce Power celebrated three years of Lu-177 production without a missed shipment
• Since 2025, enough Lu-177 has been shipped from for more than 100,000 treatments with significant capacity for more output
• In 2026, production is up more than 50 per cent and growth is expected in 2027 as well.

Those effects are also felt closer to home.
